Did you know the word "sodomite" is not in the NIV translation of the Holy Bible? Why? Because there were prominent "homosexuals & lesbians" on the NIV translating committee such as Virginia Mollenkott, and Dr. Marten H. Woudstra (now deceased) who were instrumental in influencing the translation. Dr. Marten H. Woudstra was the Chairman of the NIV Old Testament Committee and was quoted as saying, "There is nothing in the Old Testament that corresponds to homosexuality as we understand it today." Many a Christian believer has often been so deceived and become so comfortable with convenient lies that we look the inconvenient truth such as this in the face and call it a lie for the sake of acceptance without conflict. In our own willful ignorance we aid Satan's deceptions and further our own bondage. Neither Men or the Devil can change the Word of God but they have become experts since the days of Eden in twisting it for their own means, and the NIV translation is no exception to this age old deception.
ISAIAH 28:10; "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little"
As archaic as the "King James" version may seem to some it still stands the test of time as the most accurate English translation available and one of the most accurate translations overall of the Holy Bible; even above the "New King James Version" which is filled with subtle "New Age" pagan terminology. The KJV translators were specially consecrated to the task for accuracy, unlike other translations. I own and use multiple translations but the standard KJV is still my personal favorite. Sometimes in our efforts to simplify things we can water them down and even be misled in our pursuit. We should ask God for greater understanding, not an easier translation.
DEUTERONOMY 23:17; "There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel."
It is no small coincidence the word "sodomite" isn't in the NIV. Instead they often use the term "male shrine prostitute" which attempts to make it appear being gay itself isn't wrong before the LORD, but only that gays doing wrong like prostitution is the real sin. This is a complete lie. The term "sodomite" comes from direct reference to the homosexual activity for which Sodom and Gomorrah were most famous. God calls homosexuality an "abomination" because it means He hates and despises it above most sins. This is not a misdemeanor in the court of Heaven, but a capital offense for which God gave the death penalty.
LEVITICUS 20:13; "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
While all sin is an offence against God that can send one to hell, the Hebrew word for abomination is "ebah" which means "disgusting" or "utterly foul". This means an abomination is not only an offence against the Almighty God but it is so disgusting that it churns His "stomach". Wow, even the sin of homosexuality makes God Almighty want to throw up; imagine that. While there are other sins called abominations, and Sodom & Gomorrah was also guilty of other sins, it was homosexuality & lesbianism mixed with their "gay pride" in it for which God destroyed an entire region so completely that the evidence of His judgment still exists today like a scar on the Earth known as the "Dead Sea". It is called "Dead" for a reason.
EZEKIEL 16:49-50; "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50) And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good."
JUDE 7; "Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."
The original definition of "sodomite" is from the Hebrew word "qadesh" which means "a male prostitute given to licentious idolatry". The phrase "Licentious Idolatry" means any act of homosexuality, including lesbianism, is a form of self-worship coupled with unrestrained sexual perversion and lewdness with an indifference to any law or moral code which is also the abomination of idolatry. It puts ones own desires above the LORD's in direct rebellion against Him concerning the natural order of things such as the intimate relations between males and females. Their love of self and sexual desires are so great that they will blatantly disobey God as if challenging Him directly to his face to lust after someone else of the same sex like themselves. Make no mistake about it that homosexuality is both born from and breeds ungodly lust not godly love. I've been told by gays who were seeking salvation and deliverance that homosexuality is an incredibly strong spirit of delusion and bondage with an even greater hold over the person than that of drugs. They want God to change for them instead of them changing for GOD, and they pressure others into supporting their sin.
ROMANS 1:24-27; "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet."
We must be aware, not asleep. God Almighty has not changed His mind about the sin of homosexuality & lesbianism. People have to change their minds about GOD and then change their lives for GOD. The LORD loves you but He will also judge you if you don't repent. Being gay is a choice based on sexual preference; you choose who you want to have sex with and that's the bottom line. It is based on the unregenerate carnal nature of mankind and is not simply about choosing who to love as the LGBT community would have people believe. This is a conscious choice of will with spiritual repurcussions that can send one's soul to hell in fire and brimstone for eternal punishment if they don't repent, forsake their sins, turn to the Lord Yeshua (Jesus Christ) for salvation, and live a holy, acceptable life unto the LORD. If it wasn't a choice then other gays who are now saved and delivered from it wouldn't have been able to choose to break away from it and change. We were all "born sinners", which is the real issue. Nobody is born gay. The Bible says in JOHN 3:7, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN." However you came here you have to change before you leave here if you want to be saved.
