Trying to
attack an individual's religious choice during a major group crisis IS THE WRONG WAY TO UNITE THE BLACK COMMUNITY! The manner in which the above
pictured book is most often presented to Black People is as an attack on
the Christian faith and Black Christians under the false pretense to
liberate or enlighten them on what is erroneously called "the white man's religion."
It's great for historical research to know how white people thought
during slavery, but it is not used for historical research as much as it
is used to try discrediting Black Christians in particular for being
Christians and to try discouraging any others from becoming
Christians. These same types of things cause divisions among those who
are trying to unite within the Black Community, and can be fatal to any
attempt at "Black Unity". Again, THIS IS THE WRONG WAY TO UNITE THE
BLACK COMMUNITY! You will fail, and fail completely while we remain in
the same conditions as a people together regardless of your beliefs.
I've
yet to have the following questions answered when asked of those who
irresponsibly throw photo covers of books like this around:
1) Has anyone ever actually read the book before commenting on it or passing it around to get Black folks mad about the cover?
2) Did anyone know the original book is called "The Religious Instruction of the Negroes"? Here's a link to the original book that is now used for actual historic research. http://docsouth.unc.edu/church/jones/jones.html
3)
Has anyone actually studied any other credible resources on slavery
& religion besides what they've read on a few inflammatory memes or
other posts on social media?
4)
Did you know this book and Charles Colcock Jones's teachings among slave
owners wasn't popular or widely accepted as the re-printer who also
changed the title falsely asserts?
5) Do you know anything about the person reprinting the book or their commentary on the book?
6)
Did you also know that part of Charles C. Jones's reasoning for
teaching Christianity to slaves was also to make them more submissive
but it backfired, and Christianity caused more slave rebellions &
escapes than it had already?
7) Where was "Kemet, Islam, Hebrew Israelism, or the Ancestors" in our darkest hour of slavery? Nowhere to be found, but as divided as they are they still get together to fight against Black Christians who fought for them.
The
sad truth about it is that if you are a Black Christian you are
disliked and almost hated even among other Black People who claim to be
Kemetic, Hebrew Israelites, Agnostic, Ancestor worshippers, Islamic, or
Atheistic. It's nearly impossible to believe when they say they love you but make comments as if you are blind, brainwashed, or stupid, and then show
their dislike & hatred by calling you more names than you've ever
been called by a racist white supremacist. Don't let it shake your faith
but rather let it strengthen you because such treatment is already
foretold in the Scriptures, yet for us it is still no less painful a
reality. For the Black Christian believer the deceptive way literature
like this is promoted represents what the Scriptures speak of and warn
against because of the kinds of division it can also cause beginning
with the immature and unstable in the faith.
1st TIMOTHY 6:20-21; "O
Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane
and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21)
Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with
thee. Amen."
TITUS 3:9; "But
avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and
strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."
Just
because a person tries to use a religion to assist their dominance
over you doesn't make the religion false but it makes their teachings
about it false. That's what being a false teacher/false prophet is; one
who distorts the truth. The false always borrows from the truth because
that's what true deception is; a perversion of the truth to mislead you
astray. White people already had us in chains whether they taught us a
religion or not because the religions we had in Africa didn't stop them,
or stop Arabs from enslaving us and teaching us Islam. Europeans fought
each other just as often regardless of their religious beliefs.
Christianity didn't create "White Supremacy" or racism, and didn't bring
the White Colonial European powers into existence to oppress the rest
of the world; slavery did that. When the protests end we'll still ALL need a plan together, but if you're not careful you'll destroy "us" ALL together before we even get off the ground.
We
are so gullible because our anger from our oppression keeps us focused
on the wrong things and continually distracted from the right things.
This is how we get duped. Where do you think most of the information we
get on Egypt and Africa comes from? White scholars did most of the
research, and then so called "conscious" Black folks picked it up
including the late Dr. Ben & Dr. Clarke. For the most part they
reassembled the research that was already done before them. They didn't
make almost any new discoveries, yet the Conscious community revere them
like they created Kemet from scratch on their own. Where did most of
the true history of Islam come from? The Arabs made Negroes Muslim too
and often by vicious force but we don't talk about that. Why? The
Muslims embellished their own history as well as twisted the Biblical
Scriptures to make their religion and culture look pure, and the
historians (many of whom were white) dug up the dirty truth bit by bit.
What am I saying? You accept lies from the same white folks you rage against when its convenient in your "Black Power/Black Rage" hypocrisy, and use them to keep your community divided just like a white supremacist.
Has anyone ever
stopped to think that maybe it was White People who originally actually
got duped by learning a perversion of true Christianity through the
Catholic church that splintered off into the "Protestant" denominations
while in Europe? This type of information is withheld while other more
anger inducing information is put out selectively to us over time to
keep us divided by messing with your minds and to keep you struggling
but never overcoming while remaining divided. We've got to learn how to
read between the lines. It's funny to me how we are so lacking in being
truly analytical critical thinkers, yet we're such emotional
reactionaries that we don't see how it gets used against us to keep us
going in circles as a divided people. If I didn't love God Almighty and
believe in our righteous cause against injustice I would have given up
because of my own people. We make it way too hard if not impossible.
When
you go after people's religious beliefs you're tampering with the core
of who they are which is hard to change. I recently heard a couple of
popular conscious Kemetic men doing a podcast saying "Fuck Jesus Christ!" When
I saw that I knew then these two aren't "uniters" but are "dividers"
actually working in the interest of white supremacy with an angry Black
face while wearing Egyptian ankhs. I'll never work with them because I
see them as enemies and "agents" like they call those like me. That kind
of talk immediately alienates more than half of your target community
and is far more destructive than it is productive. When you do it along
racial lines where there's clear information that Christ himself and the
first century Christians were dark skinned people but you tell people
that Christianity is the "white man's religion" you are contradicting yourself and history.
I'm
not a Christian in the conventional or stereotypical sense, but I am in
the Biblical sense. Others like me teach against the false mainstream
Christianity we see, and that these others most often attack but lump us
in with. As non-traditional Christian believers we're a
minority among those of our own faith, but we're also Black and suffer
no differently as does every Black Christian. To alienate us or try
forcing us to give up our faith is to kill you and us too because "united we stand, divided we fall." Arguing
religion is not going to stop getting us killed by police and
brutalized in other ways, but it will just keep us fighting among
ourselves rather than fighting for each other about what we have in
common. If you want to unite the Black Community, again I warn you before you permanently sabotage us,
leave folks religion alone or it will never happen. ~ I.J. West
ROMANS 16:17-18; "Now
I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences
contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18) For
they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly;
and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."
