DEAR CHRISTIAN "BELIEVERS", please stop using the biblical teaching of being "UNEQUALLY YOKED" out
of context with just about everything pertaining to intimate personal
relationships. Being "unequally yoked" applies to relationships with
"UNBELIEVERS" against the faith in Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ),
and goes beyond marital relationships. You cannot grab a word, phrase, or a few verses out of the Holy Bible and then think just because you got it from there that justifies however you choose to use it; it doesn't! The Word of God means what it means, says what it says, and does not say what you want it to mean because you misunderstand it. Learn "CONTEXT" so you won't take it out of context.
It does not apply to: You workout but they don't, you eat healthy but they don't, you are of different ethnic/racial backgrounds, you like blue but they like red, you eat pork but they don't, you're a vegan but they like meat, you like hair weaves but they prefer all natural hair, and so on. Those are "COMPATIBILITY" issues and not being "unequally yoked" according to the Bible. Learn the difference to properly apply the principle. "Biblical Illiteracy" is the major cause of error and why many "believers" are easily persuaded by false spiritually seductive doctrines of "unbelievers" contrary to the Christian faith. We got it right, but if you don't really understand what you got and repeat what is wrong then you'll be misled by error and teach it to others also.
2nd CORINTHIANS 6:14; "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

Let's break down being "unequally yoked" according to what the Holy Scriptures actually mean:
1) I don't worship with non-believers in Christ. 2) I do not participate in ecumenical "all faith" gatherings under the pretense we all worship the same God or that there are many ways to God outside of Christ. 3) I don't compromise my faith to make others feel more comfortable with me or to be accepted by them. 4) I do not support or subscribe to the religious beliefs of others as compatible with mine though I do not infringe on their right to believe differently, and I can acknowledge a true statement regardless of the manner by which it comes. 5) I don't date and marry atheists or believers of other religious persuasions because they are unbelievers according to my faith. 6) I do not let unbelievers in Christ tell me what to believe about Christ and the Scriptures, or persuade me to believe their religious dogmas and scientific views on my faith especially when they only study to try finding fault rather than finding truth. 7) I do not run with ungodly people who practice or promote an anti-Christ lifestyle as my closest friends.
1st JOHN 4:5-6; "They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."
There are other things I could mention but I'll leave it at these few simple things for now and the rest up to you to think of on your own according to the word. "UNBELIEF" is a major issue but it is the only compatibility issue before the LORD in terms of being "unequally yoked". Some have disqualified a good godly potential mate based on errant teachings turned into errant beliefs that cause you to judge a person by the wrong criteria and miss out on a true blessing.

Compatibility
is being able to compromise and function in harmony regardless of your
differences without creating conflict or at least minimizing it to a
non-issue to accept people as they are. "INCOMPATIBILITY" means there are
differences between persons that disrupts their harmony and causes
conflict for which there is no compromise. Most compatibility issues are
superficial at best or cosmetic at the least, and have nothing to do
with what the Holy Scriptures actually say. We spend far too much time
repeating errant teachings and trying to prove them because of our
loyalty to tradition over truth.
GALATIANS 1:8-10; "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9) As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10) For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."
Many of you don't even know your own Christian faith that well but will be quick to listen to unbelievers discredit it while supporting and quoting them all over the place. THAT'S THE BEGINNING OF BEING UNEQUALLY YOKED! GALATIANS 1:6-7; "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7) Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ." Don't just read and repeat, but study for yourself so you'll know for yourself what the Word of YAH actually means. Shalom. ~ I.J. West
1st JOHN 2:7; "Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning."

ReplyDeleteShalom Brother, I have a question for you. If as you said that being unequally Yoke does not apply to different ethnic/racial backgrounds then why would the Bible say that God made everything to procreate after its own kind? Also, why would their be 12 different Tribes? Also, what about Gentiles (who have been grafted in and Hebrews? Wouldn't all of that pollute and muddy up our Race and Tribes? It would seem if it was just an incompatible issue then the Gay community can get in on this argument because technically those that are Hebrews would be able to say that they are compatible with each other more so than Hebrew women, and ethnically they could both be believers, right? I have to disagree on the different ethnic/racial backgrounds, I feel that The Most High made us a certain way Racially also for a reason, and that we should not mix. Also, just because someone is a Hebrew by blood does not make them acceptable in the eyes of The Most High God. Also, when it comes to one eating Pork, because as a Hebrew we should not even touch it, have it in our homes, or cook it in our pots, or even kiss someone on the lips who eats Pork. So, then someone who likes Pork would not be compatible with someone who is following the Laws and to me yes they would be considered Unevenly Yoked.
ReplyDeleteMowriyah, I wasn't going to post your comment or bother answering it but I decided to respond anyway in the hopes it may help someone who has probably been confused by the same doctrine you have chosen to follow. The one thing I've learned out of all the time I've dealt with the "Hebrew Israelite" cult community is that seldom if ever do they comment or engage in conversation to learn or discuss anything in sincerity without already believing they are right, everyone else is wrong, and they are somehow meant to "wake you up" or convince you of who you are. Not one that I've ever met has been able to admit to any error in doctrine even when clearly proven to be in error, but they attempt to bombard you with scriptures they can't rightly divide and inflammatory memes. I find this attitude full of ungodly pride and very obstinate in behavior which is why I choose as of late to ignore most of these types of comments.
DeleteYour ideology is racially prejudice and ungodly in the premise that human beings are of "different kinds" or species because of different ethnic & racial differences. By even suggesting that you completely contradict the very Bible you claim to believe because it is replete with the intermingling of people of differing ethnicities to include the lineage of Yeshua Moshiach (Jesus Christ). The animals & plants were clearly what the scriptures are referring to when it speaks of these things bringing forth abundantly "after their kind" throughout Genesis chapter 1. Humans are not animals or plants so it's not talking about us but makes that even more evident by speaking of the animals & plants in context within those verses. We were made in the image and likeness of The Almighty God to rule over them and not to be like them but to be like The Most High. We too are commanded to be fruitful & multiply without a boundary on ethnic groups. Israel was told not to intermingle with the pagan nations around them because of idolatry not because they were of a different "kind".
Furthermore, a Gentile is simply a human being who is not an Israelite by birth. You so called "Hebrews" who think you are of Israel aren't either but are also Gentiles even though your deep "identity displacement" has you in denial as a byproduct of slavery. Gays are human beings too who practice a sinful lifestyle of same sex relationships which are not against the law of man but are an abomination according to the law of Yah. The Most High created diversity among us as a testament to the diversity in his own unique singular person and to show the full beauty of his creation. What you eat has nothing to do with being unequally yoked because eating habits can change but none of them or the laws you cherish will get you into heaven without Christ. You are sincere but sincerely misled and in grave error. I pray you find the truth before it's too late. This will be the only comment of yours I will post and respond to on this particular blog article. For anything else you can contact me outside of this. Shalom.
Excellent points!
