Just because I'm not in favor of rioting and looting doesn't mean I'm
against the rioters. I support them and every protester because I
understand our anger over the consistent brutality against us and the
lack of protection from it historically for the last 400 years. Let it
also be known that I am not marching either because that is complete
bullshit at this point. No need to forgive my expression because I'm
angry and hurt, and I'm not asking you anyway. I'm not going to march or
just pray every time the authorities decide it's okay to kill us or
brutalize any person for that matter and there is no justice.
Why
won't I riot? Because I believe it is instigated and provoked against
us as a calculated strategy that actually accomplishes less for us in
the long run. It also gives others a false reason to increase their
violence against us after we've calmed down and let off some "steam". I
don't want to let off anymore steam, but I want us to boil over into a
genuine revolution that brings permanent change first among us in our
homes and local communities and then nationwide by any means necessary
to insure our rights on this Earth.
Why won't I march?
Because it does less than rioting and only gives you some much needed
exercise while wasting time being coaxed into a docile, controlled,
nonthreatening action that is acceptable to those against whom you are
protesting. If the system you are protesting against supports your
manner of resistance and gets to define the lines of your demonstration
while sending in its own approved "Black leaders" to keep you in line
and pacify you then you ain't doing nothing but taking a walk and going
nowhere.
I'm going to spend my time teaching and informing
our people to bring about a long overdue revolution. I know some
reading this are scared and think I'm talking about physical warfare,
but I'm not. I am strongly advocating self-defense against violence
towards us as necessary, but not in anyway promoting ongoing retaliation
or the pursuit of violence offensively. We've marched and rioted for
over 50 years and the system is still beating, raping, robbing, unjustly
incarcerating, discriminating, oppressing, and murdering us while
others tell us to march and pray but condemn us for any other response.
I'm done with that and am not going back.
Don't preach to
me about going to Hell when I'm already living in it, and don't talk to
me about going to Heaven if you can't bring me some like God Almighty
promised while I'm here on Earth before I get up there. Don't tell me to
just pray while you sit in silence, or give a meaningless emotional
speech for your own publicity, or take some impotent and sterile action
that accomplishes nothing at the root of the issues while I continue
suffering wrong against a system of injustice and inequality. My mind is
set on revolution and that's what I'm praying about. ~ I.J. West
LUKE 4:18-19; "The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19) To preach the
acceptable year of the Lord."
