Confronting "Hebrew Israelite" False Doctrine With History, #2

This is the 2nd writing on confronting Hebrew Israelite false doctrine, but this time rather than deal with with it from a theological perspective we will debunk it from a primarily historical one. Being that Hebrew Israelites believe the Bible (preferably the King James Version translation) is their primary history book it behooves us to review corresponding history along with it to see how their claims line up historically like other Bible prophecies do in an accurate but concise way that doesn't belabor the point. (You can read part #1 here, http://ijwest.blogspot.com/2015/05/confronting-hebrew-israelite-false.html)

They keystones of Hebrew Israelite belief is that they errantly believe enslaved U.S. Blacks were the scattered nation of Israel, who along with their descendants have been cursed for disobedience to YAH according to the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 28. This includes all Caribbean Blacks and Native Americans as well. They also tie this to YAH's prophecy to Abram (Abraham) in Genesis 15:13-14 that says his descendants would be in bondage to another nation (Egypt) for 400-years. They believe that from 1619 to 2019 will complete the prophesied 400-years of bondage. This is based on the 1st colonial slaves being brought to the U.S. colony at Jamestown, Virginia in 1619. It should be noted that the Hebrew Israelites completely disregard Afro-Brazilians as part of their group, even though 40% of all African slaves imported to the Western world went to Brazil; which was more than the United States and all other countries.
The flaw with their theory is this: If one is basing the 400-years of prophesied enslavement on when Black slaves first came to the Americas then you can't include Haitians, Dominicans, West Indians, Cubans, Puerto Ricans or other Caribbean islanders because they were first brought in 1502 and throughout the early 1500's which makes that prophecy over 100-years late. You can't include any Native Americans either because they were already in the Americas as free peoples when ancient Israel existed as an independent nation. False doctrine leads to false hope under false leaders. American Blacks in as early as the 19th century first created this false narrative to try explaining their enslavement. It is a big lie meant to make Blacks feel special while suffering the evils of racism at the hands of Whites.
It should also be noted that U.S. born Hebrew Israelites deny their African ancestry, and specifically made themselves the chief tribe of Judah above all the 12 tribes of Israel. Many Caribbean Blacks were able to retain a closer cultural connection to their African ancestry in comparison to U.S. blacks; which is why they didn't create this lost identity mythology. Basically, this has all come about because of racism and identity displacement created by slavery which will make anyone feel lost. The behavior of those who practice this false doctrine is characterized by prideful self righteousness, the constant condemnation of others, presumptuous attitudes, and racial bigotry in the name of God Almighty. They take on supposed Hebrew names but it does nothing for them in taking on a more godly attitude per the scriptures they claim to follow. I have yet to meet a humble Hebrew Israelite who doesn't fit this description.

The universality of this behavior among them is the blueprint of a classic cult. Through social media, the continuing issues created by racism in America, and the failures of church leadership this racial cult continues to find fertile idle minds to convert to their doctrine of hate while even causing the breakup of families in the process that further fragment the community. The Egyptian enslavement of Israel goes back several thousand years to the B.C. era, and the curses of Deuteronomy 28 have already occurred as far back as the 1st century, beginning in 70A.D. They have no connection to the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade of Africans to the Americas. There are some parallels to the story of Israel between U.S. African slaves and Biblical Israel, but being "similiar" doesn't mean being the "same". This is history, not a mystery.

Hebrew Israelism is just a new kind of slavery being presented to displaced & hurting Black People who are vulnerable to this kind of mental & spiritual bondage because we have not been healed or given restitution from the open wounds caused by slavery & racism in America. ~ I.J. West
