Reprogramming The Misguided Black Mind

I want to challenge the Black Community in love to start posting more empowering, uplifting, and encouraging messages as well as Black history in our online posts along with more positive images in our picture messages. There's nothing wrong with telling the inconvenient truth, having an unpopular opinion, and confronting wrong or bad behavior whether it be outside or within our community. I address hard issues myself and sometimes it needs to be done or said to bring an issue to light to challenge us to make corrections by confrontation, but we must not let the negatives outweigh the positives. We seem to often dwell on negativity to the point where we can't build sustainable positive momentum because we don't have those images or stories at the forefront of our minds or in our face due to the overwhelming number of negative ones we are drawn to.

To constantly promote division by attacking an individual's choice of religion, affiliations, the opposite gender, and schools of thought or opinion to ultimately try dominating or persuading others is useless, senseless, cult like, unproductive, and is not love for your own but misguided anger, bitterness, resentment, and on some levels outright hatred. We can agree to disagree but must not let disagreements over such things divide us, and make us fight each other more than fight for one another. We are relatively peaceful in our protest or remarks against our oppressors but easily violent and disrespectful to one another in stark self defeating contradiction.

In displaying a high degree of negativity we fail to recognize the consequences of portraying ourselves as consistent losers and perpetual victims of slavery by showing constant images or acts & facts of white supremacy that always put white people in a superior position over Black people. Whether you know it or not it sends the contrary message that Whites dominate Black people, and subconsciously helps promote fear and subservience in Black people. We too often show and celebrate by our complicity the feminization of men and subconsciously promote male emasculation as well as violence. We excuse misogyny against women, allow disrespect to Black fathers & mothers with little to no thought for how it may affect the children, and we show how ignorant we are far too often with overtly explicit sexual posts in highly inappropriate manners because we lack self control.

This is not the "Media" doing this to us or the dreaded "white man", but it is "us" doing it to "us" on our own and giving the Media more negative things to report to everyone else about "us" along with what they make up. We must reprogram our minds to began rewriting our present for a better history to think better of ourselves by seeing better of ourselves in the images and stories we share or produce. Black people have to stop chasing "hype" over rationality because it is hurting us bad and getting worst. Only we can correct this among us. I challenge you to examine the kinds of social groups you are a part of and to re-examine the kinds of friends or people in your online circles as to what they post on their time lines along with first doing a self examination of the kinds of information YOU share with others.

Take note of the negative pictures and racially biased posts that are meant to charge one's emotions or attack another person's beliefs but never offer any workable solutions to more important issues in the Black Community such as our economic empowerment, supporting Black owned businesses, quality education, reducing incarceration, crime reduction, removal of drugs, restoration of the family, responsible parenting, personal accountability, and overall community building to address other more specific things that fall under the umbrella of the things mentioned. If all you see are pictures and themes relating to slavery, racism, white supremacy, sex, drugs, gangs, racially biased religious or philosophical beliefs that slander others, videos of nonsense such as Black on Black violence and abject ignorance, or things like this that outweigh the positives then you need to delete your time line and posts so you can start over or un-friend & un-follow others who are doing it thinking they are being "pro-black".

There may be times you want to say or post something that is considered controversial for which you feel a strong conviction in your heart to communicate a message or provoke necessary thought. If you feel that strongly about it then do it because it may be necessary even if everyone else disagrees. However, in doing so make sure your motive is pure with the intent of doing good over bad in sharing the information. Don't be simple minded, emotional, and angry or just trying to get a rise out of others especially about things you haven't truly researched to know for yourself before you go repeating or posting what someone else said just because it sounds good to you.  Doing so is to walk in one of the lowest forms of ignorance with a "monkey see, monkey do" type of behavior.

Pictures and words are powerful means of communication which require that we be more careful and responsible with how we use them. If it doesn't build then it only blocks or tears down; let's build instead. When we continually present negative Black images of mistreatment against Black people without having more positive offerings to present then you are being counterproductive with no true purpose other than to draw attention to your posts under the arrogant pretense of ignorance that you are "dropping knowledge". You're dropping bull-crap like an idiot, and acting like a "hater" making remarks against others to try proving yourself against them only exposes your own insecurity, jealousy, and envy towards them. None of that is "pro-black"; it's "pro-dumb".

There are no "agents" after you, nobody is reporting you unless you are being absolutely stupid and wholly inappropriate, and nobody is a "coon, negropean" or some kind of "nigga" simply because they can intelligently disagree with you and challenge you to think beyond your capacity which is why you resort to name calling and cussing because you lack the vocabulary or mindset to dialogue more ably. You are stuck without making any progress. Raise your game instead of being lame and trying to act like you're going hard for the Black race when you're really going hard against the Black race for yourself on behalf of the white supremacist you claim to hate so much and say you are fighting.

At this point you aren't sharing anything that isn't already known by someone elsewhere, or that hasn't been heard. Use your unique mind to say it in your own way and give us something from you that will benefit us all or share something from someone else that will do the same. Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care. Let's start showing the "winners" among us and reporting more stories of how we are overcoming and continue to triumph in spite of the odds against us. Let us also tell our history without embellishing it. The truth doesn't need to be jazzed up to make our ancestors look like more than what they were, or to take credit for accomplishments we didn't actually achieve and can be proven. Our history is great as it is so let it stand as it was in truth. We must move forward to solutions for our problems and stop rehearsing the symptoms of the problems. It's time to change the "game" instead of just playing the game or being played by it. Shalom.  ~ I.J. West

  1. I notice no comments mostly due to moderation. Just post whatever the people say whether you agree with it or not. It's called engaging.

    1. What an ignorant thing to say seeing that you had nothing worthwhile to add to the comments other than to complain about the lack of comments for which you have no idea as to how many were or were not made, and yet I published your comment. I don't need your instruction on how to run my blog; thanks but no thanks.

  2. So one picture is the "Biggest problem the Race faces in America today" and so according to you if we stop it then that will fix everything? The picture speaks to the point of the article which apparently you missed and have proven the article with your knee jerk emotional response that lacks analytical unemotional thinking, but such criticism is expected and never a surprise when we're involved. We don't see or think past our emotions to get the message so we miss it as did you.
